More than 125 home technology companies, including nearly 20 Florida-based exhibitors, participated in the event. Manufacturers and distributors of home health technology, smart energy, commercial, digital media and custom electronics were all featured. During the CEA TechHome Division Breakfast CEAâs Shawn DuBravac, chief economist, and Steve Koenig, director of industry analysis, presented the 8 th Annual State of the Builder Technology Market Study , and focused on the importance of installer and builder relationships. The need for builders and home appraisers to acknowledge the value of in-home electronics was discussed at length. Participants brainstormed ways that the installer community could raise appraisal values for home technology, and ideas for how to overcome builders concerns over technology. The resounding answer was that installers need to get in on the ground level with builders, establish relationships before construction, and join sales meetings.
